Mission Statement

The Sidney Memorial Public Library provides people of all ages with current information on topics related to work, school, and personal life; encourages self-directed growth and development; addresses the need for reading and enhancing daily life through the use of library services and community interaction.

General Information

We are part of the Four County Library System. Sidney Memorial Library patrons have access to databases on the Four County Library System website which can be found in the Research Center after you log in with your library card number. If you need health information, the best resource is MedlinePlus, a government database of medical information.

The Friends of the Libraries support the efforts of the Sidney Memorial Library and our two branch libraries, hold an annual book sale, and sponsor movies at all three libraries. For information on adult, teen, and children's programming at the Sidney Memorial Library follow the links to each section or consult the Four County Library System event calendar which can also be used to look up events at any library in the system. The library hosted a number of Earth Day events in 2008: for a summary and other environmental information, please see our Earth Day page.

The library has many wonderful volunteers, without whom we could not provide the many services we offer to the community. Thank you to all of our volunteers! If you are interested in volunteering at the library, please fill out our Volunteer Application.
