Metamorphosis @ Your Library
Art Contest
Congratulations to Veronica Hine, who won a $50 gift certificate to Best Buy. Kathy Lennon won our second prize, and honorable mentiones went to Allie Omahen, and Tiffany and Tara Miner.
Thanks go out to the generous sponsors who contributed prizes and supported our teen programming efforts. Video Entertainment Plus donated the second prize, and the Chamber of Commerce donated our honorable mention prizes. We also owe a big thank-you to Two Doughboys for donating a large pizza for our Wrap-Up Party.
We made all sorts of cool stuff:
Change Your Purse or Wallet: We'll start by crocheting a card carrier- perfect for student ID's and all those "Buy 12 Coffees, Get One Free" cards businesses hand you. Yarn will be provided, and hooks will be available to borrow. If you have a hook (or your grandmother does) bring it - it will be easier if you need to finish at home.
Change Your Locker: With unique magnetic poetry you can say whatever you want... and change it up tomorrow!
Change Paper Into Bugs: Try out some origami. Make a bug, and use it as a bookmark while you do some summer reading, or donate your bug to decorate the children's area in the library.
Transform a T-shirt: Bring an old (or new) T-shirt and we'll make it into something totally different. How about a skirt? (Bring an XL shirt for that project). Change the neckline. Or the sleeves. We'll cut it up, paint it, and even go at it with a bleach pen. This is fun for guys too- take the sleeves off an old T-shirt and beat the summer heat.
More Magnets! Make more locker magnets, or a special picture frame. All photos: Robin Sanford except T-shirt photo by Tamme DeMulder
Independent Reading
Wow, you read for over 300 hours! We gave away 57 books this year.
