Teen Read Week

October 12-18 is Teen Read Week. Come to the library and Read for the Fun of It! This year's theme is Books with Bite, and our programs will have a suitably Gothic theme.

Make a Gock on Wednesday October 15. What's a Gock? Why, a Goth Sock Puppet. Let your inner sock puppet out at our workshop from 4:00-6:00 PM. Please bring one clean sock, we will provide its wardrobe (but if you have any broken necklaces, fabric, or yarn that you'd like to use, bring it along!).

Come watch Monster Movies After Hours on Friday October 17. This movie has real Bite – it's a classic silent French Vampire Film, shot in black and white. What's so cool about an ancient silent movie? Inventing new dialogue, of course! Come laugh at the vampire, and shout out what he should have said. Then stay for a showing of Young Frankensetin. The movies will start at 7:30 and end around 9:30. As always, there will be free popcorn.

Teen Council

Next meeting October 18, 1:00-3:00 PM

Are you between the ages of 12 and 18?

Do you want to help the library pick out movies, music, and books that you like?

Are you interested in spending time with friends, planning activities, watching movies, reading books?

Then we want you for the Teen Council!

The Teen Council plans special events, contests, and trips.... Members have fun while helping to make the library more fun for other teens.

Free Stuff!

In addition to the free donuts provided by our sponsor Great American, we will give away free copies of soon-to-be-published teen books!

Check out our Teen Council page for info on past activities.

The Sidney Library Teen Council is sponsored by Great American of Sidney. We are grateful to them for a monthly contribution of doughnuts.

Knit! Crochet!

Or learn how! Bring your creativity to the Masonville Branch Library on Monday October 20. Needles, hooks, and yarn will be available to borrow from 6:30 - 8:00 PM. Bring a fiber arts project, or come to learn.

Teen Book Club

Our Teen Book Club is making a comeback. The first meeting will be just after Teen Read Week, on Saturday October 25 from 1:00-3:00 PM - any teen who has recently read a book fitting this month's theme is welcome to join us. October's theme is Horror - so check out a scary book, or book featuring vampires, werewolves, or other creatures. We'll be comparing books, and finding out which ones are worth reading and which ones to avoid.

Teen Movie Night

Free Popcorn and Soda! Saturday October 25 starting at 8:00 PM. Come in for an After Hours showing of the Adam Sandler movie Don't Mess With the Zohan which is rated PG-13. Teen Movie Night is sponsored by the United Way.

Board Games and More

Like games? Come play board and card games at the Sidney Memorial Public Library. Stop by and play a game from 3:30 until 6:30 PM on Wednesday, October 29. Checkers, Chess, Monopoly, Life, Clue, and Risk will be available from the library, as well as Aquarius, Nanofictionary, and Cube Farm on loan from a private collection. Or bring your favorite game and we'll try it out! Ages 8 and up.

Metamorphosis @ Your Library

This summer we hosted two teen programs every week at the Sidney Library, and another one in Masonville. Check out the Metamorphosis page for details.

We've hosted some great Earth Day events. Want to learn more about Earth Day and the environment? Check out our Earth Day page.

March 2-8 was Teen Tech Week.

Our first event was an exciting game of Dungeons and Dragons. Local teens saved the town of Falcon's Hollow from a devastating plague. Here players fight a vicious worg (the white piece) - and it looks like the snake-dragon from an earlier fight has decided to make another appearance!

Come use our new Macintosh computer! Now you can edit websites, images, audio files, and videos at the library. You can also burn DVDs and CDs. Make a webcomic, edit your podcast - all at the library.
