RESEARCH HELP....

How to find information@ the GFJ library.......

Start with the librarians, they can direct you to the area of the library that will have the info you need. They can save you a lot of time. Just ask.

Online card catalog: All the materials that are in a library are recorded in the card catalog database. To begin your search, figure out the subject or author or title of the material you need. The database will tell you where it is shelved, what library it is in and if it is presently available. Our database shows all the materials in 41 libraries, so if it’s not at the GFJ, we can have it sent from another library.

Magazines & Newspapers:  Along with our current magazines, we also have old issues of Time, Newsweek and Life magazine. Some go back to 1947.

We have the following daily newspapers: Press&SunBulletin
Wall Street Journal
New York Times
USA News

On microfilm:
Union News/Endicott Bulletin
1857-1960
New York Times—1970-present
Press & Sun-Bulletin—Oct 1985-present

Research Center @ the GFJ Library

Along with our books, magazines, and
newspapers, there is an online database that has more magazines, newspapers, literature references, science, encyclopedias etc. It is called the Research Center and you access it with your library card, either at the library or in your home.

Most of the resources have full-text articles, so if it’s midnight and you need one more source, just check it out online.

To access the research center, point your browser to www.4cls.org, and choose Research Center. Key in your library card and choose the database you would like to search. For more information, ask a librarian or check out the brochure “Visit the Library from home…” available throughout the library.

At the GFJ Library there are 8 Internet terminals available for anyone to use. Just check with the librarians in the Youth services and Adult services. You may call ahead and reserve a terminal—757-5350.
