August 11, 2014 marks the 200th anniversary of the creation of the Lisle Free Library. Originally established in local families' homes, people in and around the village were welcomed to share books

The current Lisle Free Library building was constructed as part of an endowment from the Franklin Foundation in 1924. There have been many expansions and improvements to the building since that time.
